One of the key mechanics is of course, survival. Utilize these different pipes, they are one of your biggest advantages against predators and danger. The final and most uncommon type looks like two brackets. The 3rd is a square, with a small opening on one end. This type of pipe is the 2nd most common its an arrow, these will always come in pairs. These pipes are indicated by three short lines next to each other and are the most common in the game. You will very quickly figure out what each of these types do but I will put an image of each one here so you can familiarize yourself. Lastly when navigating an area there are four types of pipes you will encounter. If you can’t play with this style of camera and its bothering you, you can try this camera tracker mod: Predators may be hiding just out of sight so again, track out your escape plan and be ready before you even need it. So when nearing the end of the screen be careful and be ready for danger when the camera switches. This makes the game a LOT harder and requires some getting used too. This means that the camera will switch to show you the next part of a room only when your Slugcat reaches the very end of the screen. Often I find myself looking at a particular obstacle and wondering if it's even possible to get around and once I try I realize it is possible, it just requires the right moves.Īs you’ve noticed by this point the camera of Rainworld doesn't track your character. There's a ton of parkour in Rainworld casually thrown into every area, it's a good idea to mess around with your move set and see what makes you faster and slows you down. Moving around is easier but there's less between you and predators so it's important to keep an eye out for any map elements that can help you escape, for example poles to climb up can help you escape some predators or let you climb and jump over others. Open areas can both be very helpful and very dangerous. I always take a quick glance at every area I enter so I know my escape options before I even need them. Rainworld has a lot of small spaces only just big enough for your Slugcat to get through, these can help you hide and escape danger but can also leave you cornered. I’ll start by listing some of the types of areas the map provides to help cement them in your mind. I'll break down some tools I use to make mapping and finding my way easier. You can't always afford to get lost so when you first play the game it can be pretty overwhelming. ![]() Rainworld has a MASSIVE map and often it begins to feel like a maze. More controls/moves can be found in this guide (they provide gifs which is so amazingly helpful) ![]() Esc Back (Button on the center left of controller).Map Hold RB (Button next to top right trigger).Jump A, tap for small hop or hold for full jump.Right Tilt Joystick Right, tap or hold.Left Tilt Joystick Left, tap for one step or hold to continue walking in that direction.Jump Z, tap for small hop or hold for full jump.Left Left Arrow, tap for one step or hold to continue walking in that direction. If you're already familiar just scroll down to navigation. ![]() Before I begin explaining game mechanics Id like to remind you of the Slugcats basic move set.
